BMW X5

The BMW X5 stuns everyone with its exterior and interior design; the exterior of the SUV has got an impressive design along with latest exterior components. The front face of the car is dominated by dual round Xenon headlights slightly cut off at the top which incorporats corona rings, advanced fog lamps, wider front kidney design grille, four air intakes in honey comb style and fit and finish gives a 3D like feel. The rear view mirrors are in body colour that are electrically adjustable; all the mirrors in the SUV have an automatic anti-dazzle function. BMW X5 comes with body colour door handles, roof rails and aluminium running board etc. The rear side of the BMW X5 is as stunning as the front one and complements the SUV look. The rear tail lights are redesigned in L shape and placed distinctively that rest over tail gate and side walls. The wide rear windshield comes attached with rear spoiler with high stop lamp. The killer look is also contributed by its twin chrome tipped exhaust pipes.
 



The interior of the BMW X5 not only gives you a 5 star hotel feel but also offers comfort like home. The multi-functional steering wheel is powered by the speed-dependent Servotronic steering assistance system that comes with mounted controls over the spokes; it comes wrapped in leather. The car has been adorned with sophisticated audio system with 6 CD changer with 12 speakers, instrument panel, automatic AC with 2 zone control,etc. The SUV has been designed to give ample space to the passengers and for luggage, you can also store magazines, bottle, cup etc. in the space provided inside the cabin. There are a great number of optional equipment offered by the company that you can avail by paying an extra amount.





BMW X5 Mileage

The BMW X5 xDrive 30d is powered by a 3.0 litre, 2993cc, BMW six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with exhaust turbocharger that churns a top power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and develops a top torque 540  Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. The SUV delivers a mileage of 5.8 kmpl in city and 10.4 kmpl on highways.

The petrol variant of BMW X5, xDrive50i, is loaded with a higher 4395 cc, BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine that develops a top power of 407 hp at 5500-6400 rpm and belts out a top torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. The SUV is mated with Steptronic 8-speed automatic transmission for maximum use of engine output. The car gives 10.4  kmpl in the city and 13.9 kmpl on highways.

Power of BMW X5
BMW cars have the reputation of being the best whether its the features or the performance. The same applies for the BMW X5 range. There are two variants of the model- 30d and 50i; both the variants are powered by innovative engines which deliver great power and torque accordingly. The BMW X5 xDrive30d has been equipped with a 3.0 litre, 2993cc, BMW six-cylinder in-line diesel powertrain with exhaust turbocharger that lays out a max power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and pumps out a 540 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. To use the output of the powerplant efficiently, it has been coupled with a Steptronic  8-speed automatic gearbox.

The higher end variant of the BMW X5, xDrive50i, comes featured with a 4395cc, BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine which generates highest power value of 407 at 5500-6400 rpm and produces a peak torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. It also features a Steptronic  8-speed automatic gearbox.




Acceleration & Pick-Up
The top end variant of BMW X5, xDrive50i, sports a massive 4395cc, BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine that generates a top power of 407 at 5500-6400 rpm and develops a peak torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm with the help of quicker Steptronic  8-speed automatic gearbox. Another advantage of having this gearbox is its zipper acceleration that enables the driver to go from 0-100 kmph in 5.5 seconds and you can touch a top speed of 250 kmph.
The base variant, BMW X5 xDrive30d, comes equipped with a 3.0 litre, 2993cc, BMW six-cylinder in-line diesel powertrain with exhaust turbocharger; the engine easily churns out a top power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and generates a highest torque of 540 Nm at 1700-3000 rpm. The Steptronic  8-speed automatic gearbox does its duty by providing maximum driving comfort and performance. Added to this, the SUV takes only 7.6 seconds to cover 0-100 kmph mark with a top speed of 222 kmph.


BMW X5 Exteriors

The BMW X5 SUV range without a doubt, is an eye candy. The exterior look of the car is decorated with eye-catching components. The front face of the vehicle is made exciting by placing each and every part with utmost attention. BMW's trademark kidney grille finds its place in the X5 as is tradition, with some extra width. Four flow lines at the bonnet create magic that end at each grille. The Xenon headlamps have a new design that are slightly cut off at the top which incorporates corona rings, fog lamps slots are now placed a bit higher unlike other cars in India that features bumper integrated lamps. The lower side of the nose has got four air intakes including a larger rectangular honey comb cluster. To summarise, overall nose appearance is aggressive and very sporty.

The BMW X5 houses electronically adjustable body colour rear view mirrors (ORVMs) with automatic anti-dazzle function that have a black hue at the lower side. Large roof rails, body match door handles, sleek waistline and glittering aluminium running board are a part of the side view of the SUV. Large wheelarches are another noticeable feature of the vehicle. Three parallel lines can be seen from the side that offer a distinct design.




BMW X5 Interior
The interior of the BMW X5 offers a combination of classic touch and new trend which is visible from its features. The front cabin of the SUV has got wood finish panels at dashboard and centre console. The three spoke leather wrapped steering wheel is powered and adjustable and comes with mounted controls. The instrumentation of the BMW X5 is quite funky and readable; it has two dials and a compact display monitor integrated.

The BMW X5 comes loaded with trip computer and cruise control with brake function. The audio system is comprised of 6 CD changer with AM/FM radio; a DVD changer system is optional only with HiFi professional. The car is equipped with AC and 2 zone climate control with AC vents. There is ample room for leg, hip, shoulder and head for all the passengers. All the seats are leather wrapped and fitted with head rests to ensure maximum comfort. The BMW X5 comes with a lot of storage space inside the cabin to keep your belongings. The floor mats are in velour.

Interior Comfort

The BMW X5 is a luxurious SUV from the German auto maker and the concerned car comes with a lot of comfort features that sets the vehicle apart. he BMW X5 is available in two variants in India- BMW X5 xDrive 30d and BMW X5 xDrive50i; both the variants are equipped with different powertrains and more or less the same features. The xDrive variants have all wheel drive system with variable torque distribution. The base variant of BMW X5, xDrive 30d, is powered by a 2933cc, BMW six-cylinder in-line diesel powertrain with exhaust turbocharger that pumps out a max power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and produces a peak torque of 540 Nm at 1700-3000 rpm. It is mated with Steptronic 8-speed automatic gearbox, the result being awesome acceleration that is 7.6 seconds for a 0-100 kmph sprint. The diesel engine also ensures a mileage of 5.8 kmpl in city and 10.4 kmpl on highways.

Wheels
The BMW X5 xDrive50i comes with standard 19 inch alloy wheels with star-spokes 334, the wheelarches are pretty wide while the xDrive30d comes with 18 inch alloy wheels with star spokes 204. The xDrive50i variant sports 255/50 R 19 tyre specification whereas the 3.0d tyre spec reads: 255/55 R 18. The wheelbase of the variants are 2933mm, each.


Handling & Safety
The safety features of the BMW X5 includes Airbags for driver and front passenger, with seat occupant detector, Side airbags for front passengers, Head airbags for front and 2nd-row passengers, Integrated side-impact protection, Automatic fuel pump cut-off, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Automatic Differential Brake (ADB-X), Bumper system with interchangeable crumple zones front and and rear absorbing impact at speeds up to 15 km/h, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with extended features, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Seat belts, including automatic inertia reels,front with pyrotechnic belt tensioners and belt force limiters, rear with 3-point belts for all seats, Rollover Sensor, Runflat indicator, Runflat tyres, Safety battery terminal clamp,etc.

Braking & Handling
The BMW X5 comes featured with front and rear disc brakes, Anti-lock brake system (ABS), Automatic fuel pump cut-off, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) for enhanced safety and driving comfort. Apart from that, the car has got refined suspension system for better riding and handling. The front suspension is double wishbone type while the rear forks are multi link type. The BMW X5 feels smooth and has agile acceleration, superb handling with decent braking system and suspension system. The braking system includes ABC and DBC that ensure instant braking.

All versions of the new BMW X5 include brake energy regeneration. In overrun phase, i.e. as soon as the driver stops accelerating, the released kinetic energy is transformed by brake energy regeneration into electrical energy that can be stored. So the battery can be charged “free of charge”. The battery then needs less power input when the vehicle starts up again, which frees up the engine and reduces consumption.



Stereo & Accessories

The BMW X5 has been equipped with a  6 CD changer and AM/FM with dynamic 12 speakers that give you a concert feel. The driver can also operate the system with the help of handy steering mounted controls. It is also offered with a USB audio and Bluetooth interface. An optional DVD changer can be ordered with only HiFi professional while a rear DVD system is also available on demand. Apart from that, the BMW X5 comes fitted with Automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control that cools the cabin and adjusts the temperature as desired.
Optional equipments are also offered with the BMW X5 in India that include Active steering, Adaptive headlights with rain sensor, Alarm system, AC with 4-zone control, 3rd row (7 seater), rear view camera with top view, rain and light sensors, panorama glass roof, etc
